History of the Center

• Founded in 1998 by the University of Denver's
  Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS)
• Only institution of its kind in the Rocky
  Mountain region
• Roots lie in the set of relationships developed
  between the University of Denver and a number of
  important institutions in Beijing

The Goal

• To serve as a bridge to bring the two societies
  of the U.S. and China together in a search for
  mutual understanding, prudent policies, and the
  positive resolution of disputes.

• Each conference focuses on a single critical
  issue in China's international relations or its

• Monthly Forum
• Inaugurated in January 2002
• Funded by the William Sharpless Jackson, Jr.
