Intel Capital's Investments Top 1B Mark In 2006
By Jonathan Shieber 11/28/2006 For the
first time since the height of the dot-com
bubble, Intel Corp.'s venture-capital arm will
reach 1 billion in investments this year. Intel
Capital, a unit of the Santa Clara, Calif., chip
maker, has long been among the most active
venture-capital investors. But it has only
crossed the billion-dollar threshold for annual
investments twice before, investing 1.2 billion
in 1999 and 1.3 billion in 2000. By 2001,
investments from Intel Capital had dropped to
350 million, according to data from the company.
