Prohibition

• A large change in Americas drinking habit,
  prohibition the banning of alcohol put a large
  dent in the beer and wine businesses. What began
  in the 1830s and onward created chaos and
  anarchy among the masses as people were
  importing, stealing and even killing for just one
  alcoholic beverage! MADNESS!!!!

Ku Klux Klan

• extremely white supremacist group formed in 1866
  by a small organization located in Tennessee.
  They developed the first two words of the group's
  name from the Greek word kuklos, meaning "group
  or band," and took the third as a variant of the
  word clan. Starting as a largely recreational
  group, the Klan soon turned to intimidating newly
  freed African Americans. Riding at night, the
  Klan terrorized and sometimes murdered those it
  opposed. It adopted its hooded white costume. It
  was intended to represent the ghost of fallen
  confederate soldiers in battle, it was also used
  to keep the persons Identities secret while
  committing crimes in the night time hours.

1919 World Series

• In 1919, the World Series ended as the most
  famous scandal in baseball history. Eight players
  from the Chicago White Sox, which were later
  named the Black Sox, were accessed of throwing
  the series against the Cincinnati Reds.
  Information of the scandal and the extent to
  which each man has been involved have never been
  clear. It was front page news however, that eight
  men were banned from baseball for life. The eight
  men included the great Shoeless Joe Jackson,
  pitchers Eddie Cicotte and Claude "Lefty"
  Williams infielders Buck Weaver, Arnold "Chick"
  Gandil, Fred McMullin, and Charles "Swede"
  Risberg and outfielder, Oscar Happy Felsch.

St. Valentines Day Massacre

• On a February evening in North Chicago, seven men
  were found dead inside the S.M.C Cartage Co.
  garage. They had been lined up against a wall,
  with their backs to the men responsible for the
  murder, and were then shot to death. With the
  exception of Dr. Reinhardt H. Schwimmer these men
  were mobsters working under the leadership of
  gangster and bootlegger, "Bugs" Moran. Within a
  few seconds, while staring at a bare brick wall,
  these seven men had become a part of Valentine's
  Day history the St. Valentine's Day Massacre.

Al Capone
Al Capone is America's best known gangster and
the single greatest symbol of the collapse of law
and order in the United States during the 1920s
Prohibition era. Capone had a leading role in the
illegal activities that lent Chicago its
reputation as a lawless city.

• At a three day party a young starlet became
  extremely ill and died four days later, news
  papers soon caught word of this and ran wild with
  the story popular silent-screen comedian Roscoe
  "Fatty" Arbuckle had killed Virginia Rappe with
  his weight while raping her. Though the
  newspapers of the day reveled in the gory,
  rumored details, juries found little evidence
  that Arbuckle was in any way connected with her
  death.
