Title: A Pulse Generator for RPC Detector Testing

1
A Pulse Generator for RPC Detector Testing
  • N. Montes
  • (University of Santiago de Compostela)

2
The Aim of the Device
  • Need of a RPC simulator providing RPC-like pulses
for Electronics testing and Crosstalk studies
    with the RPC detector.
  • Real detector simulator giving pulses with
different heights and distribution in time.
  • Small size and simple electronic device.
  • Lower price than other pulse generators.

3
What does the Pulser give us?
  • Four different output RPC-like pulses
  • Negative or Positive.
  • Different heights.
  • Variable distribution in time width.
  • Pulse characteristics
  • Minimum time interval of 5ns.
  • Minimun width of 1ns.
  • Minimun rise time of 600ps.
  • Amplitude range from 0 to 2V.

Summary
  • A device producing RPC-like pulses is under
    development.
  • It will generate up to four parallel narrow and
    high frecuency variable pulses.
  • Total power dissipation of 10W.
  • It will be very useful for FEE electronics
    testing and crosstalk studies.
  • First prototype will be ready in some weeks.
