• lots of lakes and saunas
• Santa Clause lives in Northern Finland!
• high diversity of good drivers Mika Häkkinen,
• Kimi Räikkönen, Tommi Mäkinen, Marcus
• Grönholm etc. gt because we have lots of snow
• and slippery weather here in Finland
• famous Finnish bands and artists The Rasmus,
• HIM, Nightwish, Rockin Da North, ReDrama
• and also M.A. Numminen, who is very famous
• especially in Germany
• there are also lots of great slalomplaces in
• Finland, for example Pallas, Ruka, Levi, Syöte,
• Pyhä, Salla

About Oulu (sorry, the maps could be
better) Oulu is a technology city in Northern
Finland. You can find the place near the west
coast (The Gulf of Bothnia). The success story of
Oulu has started from tar export. Oulu expands
all the time and it is the biggest city in
Northern Finland (about 125 000 people). Oulu has
been the capital of Oulus province since 1776.
Oulu city is 400 years old in the year
2005. People know Oulu from the capable of
cooperation and capable peoples,
generation-activity, good quality services,
versatile occupation structure and strong
economy. The possibilities to study, work, do
science etc. in Oulu are excellent!

• About Maikkula and our school
• Maikkula is a suburb about five kilometres
  South-
• East from Oulu city
• this is very nice place to live and grow
• our school has over 300 pupils and about 30
  teachers
• there is no bullying or teasing in our school
  because
• we have so great principal here (Mane)
• Other positive facts (see also pictures)
• we have a tennistable, 3 cokemachines and one
  coffee
• machine!
• - we have a sport hall which is 435 m2 large!
• in Finland every pupil gets great free meal every
  day!

• some dudes broke the cokemachine
• while they were trying to get money under it
• one piece of the roof dropped down gt
• every student and school stuff evacuated gt
• the whole roof had to be replaced
• securitymen put dozens of surveillance
• cameras to our school (look the picture)
• because of minor vandalism gt now there
• are absolutely no problem in our school

• My name is Päivi. Im a fourteen-year-old girl
  from class 8A, Oulu. I go Maikkulas upper
  school. I live in a singlehouse with my older
  sister Laura (17 years), and my mom and dad. I
  also have another older sister, Anne (21 years),
  but she doesnt live with us anymore. My best
  friend is Anna and Ive known her since we were
  three-year-old kids.My hobby is floorball,
  snowboarding at winters and I also have few
  penfriends.Oulu isnt a very big city, but
  nevertheless, I like it. Theres not enough
  clotheshops and thats a pity because I love
  shopping. Im also a huge ice hockey fan. Im a
  fan of Kärpät. Kärpät is a ice hockey team from
  Oulu. I think Finland is a great country and I
  love to live here. In fact Finlands independence
  day was a few days ago. The date was 6th of
  December. Our President is a woman called Tarja
  Halonen.
