• The source is the author of the map.
• The author has a purpose for creating a map.

• A map scale can
• be done in inches,
• feet,centimeters, or
• kilometers.

• Longitude and latitude are two ways to locate
  places.

• Maps tell
• us many things. We can go anywhere we want if
  we have a map and can read it.

Maps give you a view of the world without going
to that place.

• Other kinds of maps include
• Political Maps- these show state lines and
  boundaries.
• Special Purpose Maps- these include maps of
  schools in the area, parks, animals that live
  near you, shops, and other special things.
• Physical Maps- these show natural areas such as
  mountains, rivers, and lakes.
