II. THE GREAT CHARGE, vs. 19-20 A. "Make
disciples"
a learner, pupil, disciple (Thayer) "Why do
John's disciples and the disciples of the
Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not?" (Mk.
218).
5A disciple is one who does the bidding of the one
he/she follows Matt. 2215-16, Then went the
Pharisees, and took counsel how they might
entangle him in his talk. And they sent out unto
him their disciples with the Herodians, saying,
Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest
the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for
any man for thou regardest not the person of
men.
6A disciple is one who does the bidding of the one
he/she follows Lk. 1929-30, And it came to
pass, when he was come nigh to Bethphage and
Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives,
he sent two of his disciples, Saying, Go ye into
the village over against you in the which at
your entering ye shall find a colt tied, whereon
yet never man sat loose him, and bring him
hither.

8When one understands the import of the word
disciple he is sickened by its application to
the casual, indifferent attitude of many who are
todays nominal Christians. (Robert Turner,
Plain Talk, v. 2, 1, p. 5) It is absurdly
ridiculous to speak of people as disciples of
Christ who must be begged and cajoled into
worshipping Him and who couldnt be hog tied and
dragged to Bible study. The true disciple bears
fruit. (Jno. 158) (Turner, v. 4, 5, p. 3)

12Go make disciples (Matthew 2819) How are
disciples made? Acts 1421, And when they had
preached the gospel to that city, and had made
many disciples, they returned to Lystra, and to
Iconium, and to Antioch. Acts 67, And the word
of God increased and the number of the disciples
multiplied in Jerusalem exceedingly and a great
company of the priests were obedient to the
faith. Matt. 2819, Go ye therefore, and make
disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into
the name of the Father and of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit.
13Is there any significance to ones being made a
disciple after baptism? Rom. 323, For all
have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.
14Is there any significance to ones being made a
disciple after baptism? Mk. 1615-16, And he
said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and
preach the gospel to the whole crea- tion. He
that believeth and is baptized shall be saved
but he that disbelieveth shall be
condemned. Rom. 109-10, Because if thou shalt
confess with thy mouth Jesus as Lord, and shalt
believe in thy heart that God raised him from the
dead, thou shalt be saved for with the heart man
believeth unto righteousness and with the mouth
confession is made unto salvation. Acts 238,
And Peter said unto them, Repent ye, and be
baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus
Christ unto the remission of your sins and ye
shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
