Basic Rules
  • Apostrophes are used to indicate possession in a
    singular noun.
  • The zombies grave was empty.
  • The childrens playground was closed.
  • The boys school was haunted.

More Rules
  • When a singular subject ends in s or an
    s-sound, add an apostrophe. Add an extra s
    whenever its most convenient while speaking
    (either way is correct).
  • My conscience naggings prevented me from robbing
    the bank.
  • Less house is near a graveyard.
  • There is no need for an apostrophe if you are a
    personal pronoun (him, her, its, their, etc.).
  • Her head was made into a cake by the zombie.
  • Is that yours?

  • They indicate omission of letters and figures
    in dates.
