What is POE(Process of Elimination)

• The POE improves your chance of finding correct
  answers. If you eliminate one or even two wrong
  answers, your odds of choosing the correct answer
  will increase dramatically. Using POE will help
  you to think actively about the reasons why you
  should get rid of answers rather than find them.
  This will work well when you take the FCAT
  reading test.

More About POE

• On the FCAT, you must choose the best answer from
  the four answer choices provided for
  multiple-choice questions. Using the process of
  elimination (POE) will make this job easier.

POE Steps

• Read the question.
• Indentify the key words in the question.
• Search for the key words in the passage.
• Look at the answer choices.
• Eliminate any answer choices that you know are
  wrong.
• Choose the best answer from among the remaining
  choices.

  the POE steps to help you identify the best

• Ehu was a lonely boy. His family lived far on
  the outskirts of a tiny village. Very rarely did
  Ehu get to spend time with other children his
  age. He had no brothers and sisters and was to
  far away from the village school to attend
  classes. His parents homeschooled Ehu instead.

• Answer A said Ehu is excited. The paragraph did
  not talk about an event Ehu could be excited
  about.
• Answer C is Ehu is friendly. We do not know if
  he is friendly because the paragraph does not
  describe his interactions with other people
  besides his parents. Remember Ehu did not have
  brothers or sisters. He did not live within the
  village. He was also homeschooled.

• Answer D was Ehu is intelligent. We can not
  verify this answer because the paragraph did not
  talk about how smart Ehu is or is not.
• The paragraph did however say in the first
  sentence that Ehu was lonely.

  answer a question will be found in the passages.
  You just need to find it.
