• Monday Vocabulary, read story
• Tuesday Finish story, activity, read story for
  homework
• Wednesday Grammar lesson, review vocabulary
• Thursday Centers to support weekly lessons
• Friday Comprehension quiz (students can use
  books)

Spelling

• Spelling list supports the story
• 15 words each week, 5 bonus words available
• List on Monday
• Test on Thursday
• List available at www.unit5.org/dawsonkm

Writing

• Cursive is expected
• Journal writing daily
• Graphic organizers and outlines will be
  introduced and encouraged
• Start off with one paragraph, then three, second
  semester we will work on five paragraph essays

Social Studies

• Mrs. Torrance will be their teacher
• Illinois history will be covered
• Maps and geography will be reviewed

Language Arts

• Monday Math or science
• Tuesday Read weekly story
• Wednesday Study for spelling, additional subject
• Should not exceed 30 minutes

Birthday Treats

• Birthdays will be celebrated the third Friday of
  each month
• Individual treats only
• Large cookies and cakes are strongly discouraged
• See schedule in folder
• Communicate with each other to make it easier on
  you?

Behavior Plan

• Verbal warning given as a reminder to make good
  choices
• Students will put a yellow card by their name, 10
  minutes of second recess will be missed
• Students will put a red card under their name,
  entire recess will be missed, note sent home
