Title: REFUEL Discovering the Truths of Your Faith

1
RE-FUELDiscovering the Truths of Your Faith
  • June 20th 2005
  • An Introduction to Scripture

2
The Bible Alone?
  • Sola Scriptura
  • It goes against the BIBLE
  • Magisterium Jesus left a Church to govern
  • Tradition Meant to couple with Scripture
  • John 2125
  • It goes against HISTORY
  • For 300 years after Christ there was no such
thing as the Bible, but was there still a saving
    Church? YES!!
  • It goes against COMMON SENSE
  • A document requires a living authority to guard
    and interpret it
  • ex. The Constitution

3
The Canon of the Bible
  • The writing of the New Testament took place in
    the first century
  • Catholic Councils
  • Inspired by the Holy Spirit
  • Canon was closed by Pope Innocent I in 405 AD
  • We are obliged to yield to the Papists
Catholics that they possess the Word of God
which we received from them, otherwise we should
have known nothing at all about it -Martin
    Luther
  • I would put no faith in the Gospels unless the
authority of the Catholic Church directed me to
    do so. - St. Augustine
  • It is contradictory for someone to accept the
Bible yet reject the authority who gave it to
    them.

4

8
Covenant 4Moses
  • God extends His covenant to a nation
  • This is the answer to Gods first promise to
Abraham, to make him a great nation
  • God calls Moses to guide His people to a nation
of this covenant, this is meant to be the
    promised land
  • Ex 66-8
