My Brief Biography
  • Born in Birmingham, Alabama
  • Most of life spent in Asheboro, N.C. a small
    city near Greensboro, N.C. (part of the Piedmont
    area where Chapin did many of his studies)
  • Travelled extensively in Europe, Russia and
    Israel after completing college with political
    science degree
  • Spent two years in School of Urban Planning at
    University of Tennessee, studeied under Fredrick
    Wegmann
  • Worked for approximately ten years as urban
    transportation planner, public transportation
    manager and county planner in Illinois,
    Wisconsin, South Carolina, North Carolina
  • Completed Masters in Geography (UNC-Charlotte)
    with emphasis in urban transportation planning
    (did various studies related to different aspects
    of urban transportaiton)
  • Completed Ph.D. in Geography (UW-Milwaukee) with
    emphasis in GIS, urban development and urban
    transportation (major professors-Harold Mayer,
    Harold Rose, William Huxhold, Edward Beimborn and
    Alan Horowitz). Dissertation-Land Use Impact of
    Airports major participation in project of
    freight modelling
  • Assistant Professor-Texas AM-Kingsville-emphasis
    in GIS, Urban Geography with specialization in
    urbanizaiton in Mexicotravelled extensively in
    Mexico and lived in Monterrey during the summer,
    co-editor of Urbana (http//www.tamuk.edu/geo/Urb
    ana/), worked on project related to GIS and
    ground water modeling, taught courses in GIS,
    Remote Sensing, urban planning, started urban
    studies program
