• TransAct Communications was formed in 2000
• Part of ACTEW (Canberra electricity, gas and
  water utility)
• Network uses ACTEW power distribution
  infrastructure (Poles, ducts, right-of-way)
• Fibre-to-the-kerb broadband and narrowband
  network (single cable)

• TransAct obtained a carrier licence in February
  1999
• Commenced rollout of broadband network 1999
• Connects 100,000 homes and 14,000 businesses in
  ACT and Queanbeyan

NEIGHBORHOOD CABLE

• Formed in 1994 to provide Pay TV to regional
  market
• In 1996 commenced construction of cable network
  in Mildura, Victoria
• Mildura network completed 1998
• Neighborhood Cable obtained carrier licence
  December 1999

Neighborhood Cable - Mildura

• Services available to 66 of residential homes
  and 90 of businesses
• Installed first commercial VoIP telephone
  networks for Mildura Rural City Council

Neighborhood Cable - Ballarat

• In 2000 it purchased former licensed carrier
  Northgates Infrastructure in Ballarat
• This network passes 32,000 homes, businesses and
  government locations.
• Ballarat network is one of Australias largest
  broadband networks

Neighborhood Cable - Geelong

• Early 2002 commenced construction of network in
  Geelong.
• Network will when completed pass 75,000 locations
  and 200,000 customers.
