Title: Personal Fitness Plan

1
Personal Fitness Plan
  • Your roadmap to success

2
Breaking the Failure Cycle
  • Failing to Plan is Planning to
    Fail
  • From Bobby Knight

3
Breaking the failure cycle
  • Most fitness programs were created to provide
services for traditional gym participants such as
body builders, athletes, power lifters and
    fitness enthusiasts
  • Today most fitness participants are transitioning
from sedentary lifestyles towards healthier goals

4
Breaking the failure cycle
  • Most traditional fitness programs were not
designed based on sound scientific principles and
made assumptions about the participants that are
    not valid for today's clients.
  • If you use a traditional fitness program and you
are a sedentary adult you have a 50 90 percent
chance of becoming injured in the initial six
    weeks of training.

5
To succeed you need a plan
  • A plan should include
  • Individualization (no one size fits all)
  • Clearly identified goals
  • Proper instruction and direction based on your
    needs and constraints
  • Start slowly to avoid injury building to more
    intense activities
  • Integrate all important aspects (cardiovascular,
    balance, flexibility, nutrition, strength)
  • Contain specific and realistic time commitments.
  • Provide a nutritional plan that supports the
    activity level of your plan

6
A Personal Fitness Plan
  • Identifies your goals, likes, dislikes, health,
    and limitations
  • Tests fitness levels (physiological, body
    composition, flexibility, balance, strength,
    agility, cardiovascular) to ensure proper
    training intensities
  • Provides postural assessment to identify muscle
    imbalances
  • Includes an easy to understand executive summary
of your fitness and postural testing
  • Allows you to track your progress using reports
    graphs
  • Clearly identifies how you will progress in a
    safe and effective manor by
  • Constructing an annual fitness plan showing what
types of training you will need to do and for
    what period of time
  • Provide a monthly plans that shows specific time
commitments you will be making each day of the
    week
  • Provide a complete daily workout program with
    instruction for each component
  • Include a meal plan prepared by a PhD nationalist
that will support the activity level of each
    training phase
