Dewey MS/HS Library Procedures
  • Hours
  • The library is open for student use from
    800am-330pm every
  • school day of the school year.
  •  
  • Library Availability -
  • Individual students may come to the library
    during class hours
  • with a library pass from their regular
    classroom teacher.
  • Student teacher-aides may not come to the library
    every day.
  • Check-out Policy -
  • Students may check out 3 items at a time.
  • Regular fiction and nonfiction books are checked
    out for 2 weeks.
  • Reference books, magazines, and selected videos
    are checked
  • out for overnight.

  • Fine Policy
  • Fines on regular 2 week books are calculated at 5
    cents per day not counting
  • the day it is due or the day the item is
    returned.
  • Fines on overnight materials are calculated at 35
    cents per day beginning the
  • first day they are overdue.
  • Damaged books are assessed for either the full
    replacement price or a repair
  • cost.
  • Any student willing to work off their fine,
    should make arrangements with the
  • librarian.
  • Fine lists are sent out on Monday mornings to
    English classes in the Middle
  • School and High School and homeroom in the
    6th grade.
  • Copies
  • The librarian will only make copies related to
    classroom assignments for
  • students.
  • These copies will be made at her convenience.
  • The price for copies is 5 cents per page.
  • Personal copies for teachers are also 5 cents per
    page.
  • Copies made on computer printers are limited to
    related classroom
  • assignments and not to be an excessive
    amount.

  • Accelerated Reader
  • Accelerated Reader lists are available in the
    library for all grade
  • levels and teachers.
  • An AR title list is also available online on the
    schools web page.
  • AR points and AR reading level are listed on the
    spine of each
  • AR book.
  • AR lists are available at both the Dewey and
    Bartlesville Public
  • Libraries.
  • End of Semester Policy-
  • All library materials must be returned and the
    fines paid at the
  • end of the first semester or ISD will be
    assigned.
  • All library materials must be returned and the
    fines paid by the
  • end of the school year or the student will
    not be allowed to
  • enroll for the next school year.

Behavior Rules in the Library
  • Walk calmly.
  • Dont play in the book stacks.
  • Keep your hands to yourself.
  • Find a book-- no visiting with classmates.
  • Leave the chairs and tables where you find them.
  • Return materials on time.
  • Replace unwanted books back in shelf or on top of
    shelf where you found it.

  • When using any reference book you should browse
    through the book to find the correct area to be
    used.
  • Some videos may be checked out by students.
  • Magazines may be checked out only if you are
    doing research.
  • The call number for biographies begins with a
    B.
  • The library closes at the last bell at 310 in
    the afternoon.
  • Anytime a student comes to the library he should
    have either his student assignment book or a
    Teachers Library Pass.
  • Books may not be checked out over Christmas
    vacation.
  • Students who are teachers aides do not need a
    library pass.
  • A student may check out a book, a magazine, and a
    video all at the same time.

  • 12. Students are allowed to put holds on books
    that are already checked out.
  • 13. An AR book list is available on the school

  • A MS students ID changes when he becomes a
    freshman in the high school.
  • Overdue lists are printed almost every Monday
    morning and given to English teachers or homeroom
    teachers.
  • If you have 1 copy copied of a pages front and
    back you will owe .05.
  • Fines on overnight materials are only .05 per
    day.
  • If a book is left outside and becomes damaged the
    student is not responsible for the cost of the
    book.
  • During class time, middle school students are not
    allowed to play games on the computers unless
    they have a note from their teacher.
  • 6th grade students are not allowed to come to the
    library before school unless they have a note
    from their homeroom teacher.
