Louisiana
Louisiana is the Pelican State. It is kind of
shaped like a boot, like Italy. The capital of
Louisiana is Baton Rouge. I will remember that
the capital is Baton Rouge, because I learned all
the capitals in fourth grade, and again this
year.

Florida
Florida is a very popular place for vacations
and, and many retired people move there. Florida
has a beautiful climate, which explains why
people are attracted to it. The capital of
Florida is Tallahassee. I will remember this
capital because the state of Florida is tall, and
the word tall is in Tallahassee. Disney World
and Orlando are 2 of Floridas most popular
attractions. Cape Canaveral is also in Florida.

New Jersey
New Jersey was one of the original 13 colonies.
It is the Garden State. The capital of New
Jersey is Trenton. I will remember that the
capital is Trenton, because New Jersey looks like
it has a dent in it, and dent rhymes with Trent.

When I think of Alabama, I think of southern
accents. The tip of Alabama touches the Gulf of
Mexico. The Mississippi River ends in Alabama,
and empties into the Gulf of Mexico. The capital
of Alabama is Montgomery. I will remember the
capital because Montgomery sounds like a southern
place to me, and Alabama is in the south. Martin
Luther King Jr. also grew up in Alabama.

Michigan
There are 4 great lakes that border Michigan.
They are Lake Michigan, Superior, Huron, and
Erie. The capital of Michigan is Lansing. I
will remember this capital, because in fourth
grade we sang a song about the states and
capitals, and I remember most of them. Also, I
have relatives that live in Lansing Michigan.
