Groups Disrupting Classes
  • Issue for Discussion
  • Tuesday, October 14, 2008

2
Issue Groups Disrupting Classes
  • The Issue Recently, several events (fund raising
and political) have disrupted our students from
    receiving quality education.
  • The Scope of the Issue The scope encompasses
large groups of classes on campus, including
those offered by Ferris. This impacts all
    students and employees.

Issue Groups Disrupting Classes
  • Examples of prior disruption
  • Music reportedly so loud that meaningful/focused
    communication between instructors and their
students could not occur. (Rock The Vote in the
    Bostwick Commons)
  • Traffic was rerouted without prior notice,
causing students to be late for class. Some
students simply gave up after sitting in traffic
for close to an hour. (McCain/Palin Event in the
    Ford Fieldhouse)
  • Cancelled classes. (Dedication of the Secchia
Institute for Culinary Education in the ATC)

  • The next event will be held on Thursday, 10/16,
by the GRCC Foundation for the Dedication of the
    Wisner-Bottrall ATC from 630 to 830pm, which
    will include live music.
