Online Research

• Grolier Encyclopedias subject must be pretty
  important
• Facts for Learningchoose search all tab in
  upper right. Good source for printed
  up-to-date books.
• Current Biography Yearbook
• Especially Gales Biography Resource Center for
  biography projects.
• For subjects just recently in the news, your only
  hope might be E-chalk or Gale. These links are
  good for just about everything, but the reading
  level might be difficult at times.
• You may use the web links suggested from within a
  subscription database (Grolier, etc.)

Rules of Researching online

• 1. Think of the single most important word or
  phrase to put into the search blank.
• 2. Quotation marks around exact phrases that you
  are looking up might help.
• 3. FIND THE ANSWER in the fewest number of
  hits.
• 4. Spelling, punctuation, and stemming count.

• In order to eliminate misinformation

• Limit your search to educational websites by

Citations

• Most articles that come from ALMS
  Online_Research links show you how to write the
  citation. Many of those articles actually give
  you the exact citation for that source
• Citation information is often found at the bottom
  of the article. On e-chalk, you must change the
  name of the school.
