• Find at least two programs that would train you

• Call, write, or e-mail that facility and request
  info about that program.

• Find an adult to job shadow who has an occupation
  that corresponds to one of your top 5 careers.

Resume

• Go to www.careercruising.com

• Go to EDP tab and login
• Go to Career Portfolio tab and record your
  activities interest, work experiences, and
  volunteer experiences.
• Go to Resume Builder tab and create a resume.

Find Your Perfect Job

• Using the names of your top 5 career matches
  explore the following web sites and print out
  info from at least 5 perfect jobs.

• Top Job Search Websites

EDP

• All 8th graders must have an EDP.
• This is done in February.
• Ninth grade classes are scheduled from the info
  entered in the EDP.
• Go to www.wyoming.k12.mi.us
• Click on Information
• Click on Student EDP
• Login and do your EDP for all 4 years. These can
  be changed as needed.

Career Day

• In March we will have Career Day for all 8th
  graders.
• Each student will choose their top 3 career
  choices from a list.
• During 5th and 6th hour students will rotate
  between their 3 assigned choices for a
  presentation by a professional in that career.
• A reflection paper will follow this experience in
  English class.

College Visit

• In May, all 8th graders will visit Ferris State
  University, Grand Valley State University, or
  Grand Rapids Community College.
• The colleges offers this free of charge through
  their community affairs departments. Wyoming
  Public Schools supplies the transportation.
• The visit includes a large group overview that
  informs the kids about what choices they need to
  make in high school in order to attend college,
  what the college offers, and financial aid info.
  Next, the kids go on small group tours. The visit
  is concludes with a lunch at the college (their
  favorite part).
