Robert Hooke

• Hooke was the first to call the smallest form of
  life a cell, although he had a very basic
  microscope.

Anton van Leeuwenhoek

• He was the first man to see LIVING cells he
  probably saw bacteria..
• Leeuwenhoek called them animalcules, meaning
  little animals.
• Known as the Father of Microbiology because of
  his advances.

Theodore Schwann

• He is considered the founder of the theory of
  animal structure
• A co-founder of the cell theory

Jakob Schleiden

• He was a co-founder of the cell theory
• He is credited with the discovery that plants
  also have a cell structure
