Title: Managing Obstetrics Problems Homoeopathically
1- Managing Obstetrics Problems Homoeopathically
2Obs (to aid) stare (a woman)
- Through stages of pregnancy, parturition and
postnatal care - Homoeopathic management is to restore a state of
mental and physical well being to experience
positive health - This demands knowledge of nature of disease and
stage and type of pathology, knowledge of
remedial forces by appreciating characteristics ,
understanding scope of our science and
understanding susceptibility
3She is the Susceptibility
- She can be the gentle preserver
- She can be unpredictable
- She can unleash a fury
- She can heal
- She can prove fatal
- Mankind respects her inner sensitivity
- He however fears her reactivity
- During pregnancy it is noted (in Kents
observation) that susceptibility is usually high
However it needs to understood from case to case
, keeping in mind , reactivity , vitality, nature
of disease which can be functional or structural
, the predisposing soil and the dominant
miasmatic activity
4Homoeopathic management of simple morning
sickness
- Case of 28 years came with diagnosis of simple
morning sickness - She had severe vomiting only in the morning and
with burning - In the absence of any other characteristics and
the two above symptoms - SYMPHORICARPUS RACEMOSA 30 was given patient

- Allow patient to introspect intra and
interpsychic forces contributing to poor
adaptation - Interventional therapy to understand impact of
childhood stresses - Monitoring diet , B.P , Blood tests for anemia
- Antenatal exercises (yoga)
- Support and reassurances from husband
8The process of cure is a gentle unfolding of
layers homoeopathic physicians facilitate
healing..patient delivered twin male babies
- Approach to case depends
- Understanding
- characteristics
- Understanding nature and stage of disease and
pathophysiology - Understanding degree of correspondence of remedy
selected - Understanding philosophy of individualization
- Understanding susceptibility
- Identifying similimum(remedy , potency posology)
9Importance of bonding
- Research and data analysis by psychologists like
Bolby, Zukov have proved the importance of
acceptance ,bonding in the eventual growth of an
empowered child mentally and physically - Interventional psychotherapy may prove helpful
in mothers who may have had traumatic experiences
in past contributing to present mental state
10Case of nutritional iron deficiency anaemia
- 26 years female came with pregnancy of 12weeks
- Her present haemoglobin reading was 8gms
- In past too patient has attacks of anaemia
- Case defined mental disposition showed patient
to be obstinate hypersensitive, fretful and
anxious - Her physical generals were chilly , craving
pungent - She had anxious dreams She also had dyspepsia lt
pulses since childhood - Ferrum Met 30 and then 200 infrequent doses
ensures Hb levels went up in three weeks to 10
and then stabilized to 12 - Again in third semester when there is a
physiological drop in Hb levels (here 10.5) Ferr
met 200 was given in frequent doses and Hb
stabilized at 11.5 till delivery and patient was
followed up to six months after delivery(with
regular monitoring of haemotocrit levels) - She also required diet rich in iron and folic
acid
11Homoeopathic management in cases of anaemia
- Case of 24 year lady
- 34th week of gestation
- Sudden drop in hemoglobin levels (7gms)
- Presents with severe weakness and exhaustion (on
auxiliary aid transfusions-PACKED CELS - Based on characteristic generals and pace and
pathology of anemia china 30 given in freq doses - patient completed here term and delivered a
female baby (Hb levels went up to 10 and then
stabilized at 11.5gms till delivery)
- Management depends on
- Understanding types of anemia
- Scope of our system in these and need for
auxiliary aid - Role of investigation (haematocrit values, CBC ,
peripheral smear 1/mth) - Ensure sound prognosis without complications
(like sepsis, stillbirths with help of ULTRA
SONOGRAPHY ) - Understanding susceptibility, miasm and
appreciation of similimum
12Diet during pregnancy
- Total calories 2500
- Hb usually maintained 10-12 gms
- 10 -12 glasses of water
- Keep every meal balanced
- Small and frequent intervals
- Milk 3-4 glasses

dreams anxious
14The joy of giving and receiving abundance of
love
- Patient was given MAG CARB 200
- Her T.S.H stabilized after four weeks to 3.5 and
subsequently 2.5 after delivery - It was also important for physician to be
empathetic and guiding, and address deeper issues
of bonding so that she is prepared to receive a
child without gender distinction (an increasing
social issue) - Her repeat tests of t3 t4 and free t4 and T.S.H
right through pregnancy ensured the levels were
maintained even after delivery during lactation
15Important aspects of management
- Primary hypothyroidism with normal antibody
titres usuallay have good prognosis - Once in four weeks investigations T3, T4, TSH and
antibody titre and free T4 are important - Towards third trimester it is important to take
aid of ultra sound investigations to assess
foetal growth
16Homoeopathic management of type 2 NIDDM
- Lady age 25 years primi gravida
- She came with diagnosis of gestational diabetes
in second trimester - Her fbs was 260 and ppbs 150

was P.P.BS around 140 and F.B.S 105 - These tests were followed after delivery for one
year to ensure they were in normal limits - Along with this patient was kept on strict diet
and exercise - Husband recognized need for change and support to
play both for present and future - Thus approach to metabolic disorders considering
nature of disease , and prognosis on maternal and
foetal health indicates need for deeper acting
remedies like constitutional remedies in
moderate potency and infrequent doses ,with care
on auxiliary aids, and need for regular
investigations
18Role of yoga
- Has proved beneficial in reducing subjective
distress symptoms during first trimester like
APD, backpain - Has proved beneficial in management of metabolic
diseases like diabetes and systemic like
hypertension - Antenatal exercises have proved beneficial in
normal labour and usually it is done with the
husband to help support - Yoga especially pranayamas, meditation have
helped support positive mental health

has specific action on uterine muscles was given
in frequent doses - Patient delivered normally a male baby in next 12

with Natrum Mur before conception - She developed rigid os despite having good
contractions - Natrum Mur 200 few doses ensured patient had
labour pains and delivered her baby normally
