• A fraction is a number that tells about a piece
  or a part of something.

How to Write a Fraction

• ½

• When you write fractions you write one number on
  the top, then a line, and another number on the
  bottom.
• The top number tells us how many parts we are
  talking about right now
• The bottom number tells us how many parts there
  are altogether

• In order to use fractions the figures must be
  divided into equal parts
• equal parts means that all of the pieces are
  exactly the same size

Halves

• When you divide something in half you make two
  equal parts
• One half (½) tells us about one of the two parts
• These figures are divided in halves.
