2Mission Statement
The mission is to enable students to compete and
find employment in a competitive and
technologically driven society. This will be done
primarily through utilizing technology rich
teaching and training, using current and varied
technology, providing basic skills training,
continually training instructors, and by using
varied and rich practices.
3Challenges . . .
- Varied skill levels among students
- no computer experience to extensive experience
- very diverse background - high school dropouts,
new high school graduates, laid-off
employees, athletes, parents, grandparents,
unemployed, etc. - limited access
- Multiple platforms
- Campus Cruiser / Blackboard
- XP / Vista
- Office 2003 / 2007

4. . . Challenges
- Varied skill levels among instructors
- minimal use for email to online courses and use
- Limited available equipment
- A 50 computer - computer lab available for entire
college - Two portable computer carts in one building
- Majority of classrooms (non-computer courses)
have no equipment - transparency projectors
available - Classrooms with computers only available for
specific classes

- No entry level computer requirements.
- Access to equipment and training to use programs
and equipment unavailable. - Poorly organized and inconsistent online courses.
- Two platforms used for online courses.
- Mostly text-based courses.
- No encouragement nor goal to incorporate
multimedia in the classroom.

10How to Meet Challenges . . .
- Provide all classrooms with computers, speakers,
and projectors - Make basic computer skills a prerequisite
- Use a single platform for online courses
- Consistent practices

- Create online banks of resources
- Encourage and promote multimedia in the
classroom - Provide a variety of training at various times
- Create on-demand online training
- Invest in full time employees with technology
skills - Pay adjuncts for extra time
