Roles

• 1. Grapher Looks for examples of direct
  variation by graphing functions.
• 2. Analyst Looks for direct variation by
  analyzing tables.

Preparation

• The data in the tables listed below represent a
  variety of functions. Your assignment is to find
  the ones that are examples of direct variation.
• Write on your worksheet the process you will use
  to determine whether the table of values shows
  direct variation.

Procedure

• 1. The members choose their roles.
• 2. Each member will analyze the tables
  independently and state which ones represent
  direct variation.
• The analyst will use the tables.
• The grapher will plot the points and make a
  determination.

Procedure (cont.)

• 3. The members compare their answers to see if
  they agree.
• 4. The members discuss how to find the constant
  of variation for the functions. The discussion
  should include both the graphs and the tables.
• 5. The Grapher writes a summary of the
  discussion.
• 6. The analyst writes the equation and the
  constant of variation for each of the tables that
  show direct-variation.
