The Dragons Are Singing Tonight by Jack
    Prelutsky.

6
Step 1. The students are introduced to the poem
printed on a sheet of paper. The targeted words
are color cued.
Nasty Little Dragonsong by Jack
Prelutsky I'm a nasty, nasty dragon, I've been
nasty since my birth, When it comes to
nasty dragons, I'm the nastiest on
earth. I've a nasty, nasty temper, And my
breath is nasty too, I was nasty to my
parents, I'll be nastier to you. It's my nature
to be nasty , Nasty, nasty night and day, I
will act completely nasty If you're in my nasty
way. Yet I largely pass unnoticed As I nastily
go by, I'm a nasty, nasty dragon, Just a nasty
half inch high.
7
Step 2. An IntelliTalk template is created with
the targeted words removed. Students can now
choose one word such as nasty and place the
correct comparative word forms (i.e. nasty,
nastier, nastily, nastiest) into the poem.
Little Dragonsong I'm a
dragon, I've been since my birth, When it
comes to dragons, I'm the on
earth. I've a temper, And my breath is
too, I was to my parents, I'll be
to you. It's my nature to be ,
night and day, I will act completely
If you're in my way. Yet I largely pass
unnoticed As I go by, I'm a
dragon, Just a half inch high.
8
Step 3. The students choose one of the
comparative patterns. The students use the
overlay to complete the poem.
9
The Read button on the overlay allows the
students to have their work read out loud to them
as many times as needed.
10
The additional word choices on the overlay
provide an opportunity to extend this activity
using other comparatives.
11
The arrow keys provide access to the template
without having to use the mouse.

Heres a modification for an extension activity,
change the subject! Imagine Ballerinasong,
Kittysong, Trollsong... Students can also be
encouraged to create their own comparatives.
Little Puppysong I'm a
puppy, I've been since my birth, When it
comes to puppies, I'm the on
earth. I've a temper, And my breath is
too, I was to my parents, I'll be
to you...

for telling the keyboarder what to type. The
author can request ideas from the other members
but he/she is the primary contributor. It is best
to position the author next to the mouse and
place them in charge of any mouse movements.
22
The Rotation Chart
A Rotation Chart is posted on the computer before
the students arrive. As the students approach
the computer they know where to sit. The
students also know that they will get a chance at
each job during the session.
23
The jobs are defined. The positions are taped
to the table. Each student moves into position
at each rotation.
24
The Captain / Editor fills out the recording
sheet after each rotation.
