Aims of the Seminar
  • To recap the aims of the seminar were
  • to raise awareness of RDF
  • to establish route for contributing to
    development of the RDF specifications
  • to raise awareness of schema mechanism in RDF and
discuss how this might be used in our communities
  • to establish forum for those interested in
    experimenting with RDF

4
Issues
Technical Issues
Schemas
RDF Specifications
Resourcing
Tools
Deployment
5
Questions For Discussion
  • General
  • Is it timely to start using RDF yet? After all,
the specifications are still not final, browser
support is not yet available, ?
  • How are schemas to be deployed? Are they left to
the major players (Microsoft, Netscape, etc.) to
develop, developed by individual projects and
    services or by groups?

6
Questions For Discussion
  • Tools
  • What tools are needed?
  • What models for creating / maintaining metadata
    should we be using?
  • Deployment
  • Can anyone suggest a useful pilot project to
demonstrate the benefits of RDF, establish
    resource implications, etc?
