Self-Assembly and Surface Chemistry E. Charles

Alloys such as this Pd/Cu mix are very active for
hydrogenation reactions and useful in
purification membranes. Individual, isolated Pd
atoms are clearly visible in both the surface and
subsurface layers and are very active for H
dissociation and spillover two very important
catalytic steps.
Near defect-free thioether self-assembly may
offer an alternative to thiol-based systems.
Comparing thioethers with different lengths
revealed the importance of intermolecular
interactions in packing structure.
