• Know cassette sizes by sight
• 8x10, 10x12, 11x14, 14x17
• Know the difference between crosswise and

Positioning

• Have patient sit at end of table on a stool
• Place lead shield on lap
• Pronate the hand so that the
• palm in on the surface of the cassette
• Long axis of hand with long axis of IR
• Center hand to IR (find middle of Cassette place
  central ray there)

• Leave hand in pronate position
• Rotate entire hand and wrist laterally to a 45
  degree angle (can use sponge)

• Place the medial side of hand on IR (thumb up)
• True lateral position
• Extend fingers
• Position thumb away from fingers
