• Substrate-level phosphorylation converts ADP Pi
  to ATP
• Glycolysis requires the input of two ATPs
• It generates 4 ATPs with a net yield of 2 ATPs
• The end product is 2 pyruvates

Fate of Pyruvate

• Pyruvate enters the Krebs cycle in the
  mitochondria
• Pyruvate is converted into lactate to regenerate
  NAD from NADH
• Pyruvate is converted into alcohol (bacteria and
  yeast only) - Alcohol fermentation
