• Metadata standards serve as a template for
  consistent data documentation.
• The same format can be used, and routinely filled
  in as data is developed
• Proper metadata results in less data repetition.
• Metadata helps eliminate data repetition by
  documenting logging creation and update times and
  dates.
• Enables multi-user collaboration. All data is
  consistent across multiple projects and people.
• Metadata ensures confidence when sending and
  receiving metadata among different users.
