Ancient Civilizations
  • Ancient Greece and Ancient Egypt

You will first
  • Choose three topics that you wish to research
    about Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece. You will
    research the internet and any print materials to
    gather information to make comparisons of the
    civilizations in the three areas you pick. The
    list of topics you can choose from are daily
    life, government, travel, culture, education, the
    geography of the countries, interesting people,
    or a topic that is approved by the teacher. You
    will need to make a bibliography of the materials
    you used.
  • You will use the organizer from kidsperation, and
    the research sites listed under the research
    sites in the learning center and any print
    material on the subjects.

After researching take the Multiple Intelligence
Test
  • You will go to the following site
  • http//www.iolair.f9.co.uk/tools/MIQuiz.htm and
    take the multiple intelligence test.
  • This will show you your area of strength. You
    will use this information and find your area of
    strength on one of the following slides. Using
    the side that is your strength, you will choose
    one of the three listed activities to display the
    information you have learned.

Logical/Mathematical
  • Use a Venn Diagram to compare each of the areas.
  • Make an organized list of facts you discovered in
    each of the areas.
  • Create a Pamphlet of info

Visual/Spatial
  • Create a bulletin board for your topic.
  • Write a Picture Book on your topic.
  • Create a Power Point presentation.

Body/Kinesthetic
  • Create a Board game that includes questions from
    all three areas you researched.
  • Build or Construct a Model representing each of
    the different cultures.
  • Devise a scavenger hunt on your topic of study.

Musical/Rhythmic
  • Change words to an existing song so that
    it teaches something about your topic.
  • Create a Musical Game that has information from
    the areas of each country you researched.
  • Lead a Choral Reading giving information about
    the three areas of each country.

Naturalist
  • Create a visual display using objects from
    Nature.
  • Plan an Outdoor Classroom.
  • Show how animals were important in the two
    cultures.

Interpersonal
  • Imagine "passing over" into other
    times/lives--describe their feelings, thoughts,
    beliefs, values
  • Conduct a Press Conference
  • Create Classroom Learning Centers

  • Create a Bulletin Board
  • Create a timeline
  • Discuss "How I'd be different
  • if I'd grown up in another culture.

Verbal/Linguistic
  • Write creative advertisements to encourage people
    to visit these countries
  • Write a poem comparing and contrasting the two
    civilizations
  • Make a game called "What's My Line?" with figures
    from this period of history

Presentation to the Class
  • After finishing your project you will give a
    presentation of your project to the class.

Turning in the Project
  • You will need to turn in a copy of the graphic
    organizer you used to gather information. You
    will also need to turn in a bibliography of the
    sites and materials that you used along with the
    finished project.

Assessment
  • You will be assessed in two ways. You will assess
    yourself with using a student self assessment
    rubric.
  • I will assess you using a rubric and anecdotal
    notes that I will take while observing you
    working on your project.
  • You will be given copies of both rubrics as you
    begin your work.
