  • Make the invitation letter explicit
  • Include reference to the guidance
  • Allow the student to see the work and evidence

  • Be clear yourself about the nature of the problem
  • Try not to prejudge the student
  • Allow the student to submit a written statement/
    other evidence they feel might be useful (notes,
    rough workings).

  • Remember it is not a disciplinary meeting
  • Balance seriousness and formality with the need
    for the student to feel able to talk
  • Open questions, to establish what happened from
    the students point of view

    shows or suggests

    progress.
