4Updated Data Archival Process
- Currently 1.5 Gigabytes of PMU data are being
archived daily - All sub-second data is backed up daily and gets
stored at an offsite location - The online data window is currently about 6
months as more PMUs are added this window will
get smaller - Because restorations would need physical tape
retrieval from offsite location all data is now
additionally archived onto DVD for quick access - So if a request comes in for offline data, the
data can be quickly accessed from the DVD array
5Data Quality Enhancements
- During testing of data integration with the AREVA
State Estimator, we found that some of the PMU
current readings were coming in incorrectly - These errors were not found up to that point
because this data wasnt being monitored closely - The errors were caused by incorrect CT ratios
entered in the PMU configuration - These have since been corrected and now the PMUs
are reporting good current readings - Additionally more work was done to empirically
validate readings against SCADA - More work needs to be done in this area by the
DMTT for all PMUs
6New PMU Connections
- Connection Established to 10 New Phasor
Measurement Units - Real Time Stream Integration
is in Progress - American Electric Power
- 5 New PMUs Connection Verified
- Integration Started
- Tennessee Valley Authority
- 5 New PMUs Connection Verified
- Awaiting Configuration
- Con-Edison, Southern Company, Manitoba Hydro,
ATC, plus many more are already in the process
installing PMUs and working to connection
7Web Site Updates
- Demographics Web Site
- https//eipp.tva.com
- Data set download requests now available in

8Entergy PMU Recovery
- Lost communications with Entergy Data Center at

Monday September 12, 2005 651 PM EDT
communications to all PMUs except for
Patterson were restored. Given the magnitude of
that disaster, it only took a remarkable 14 days
for near full recovery of Entergys PMU data!
