Title: AM I MY

1
AM I MY BROTHERS KEEPER?
2
Genesis 43 And in the process of time it came to
pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit
of the ground to the LORD. 4 Abel also brought
of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat.
And the LORD respected Abel and his offering, 5
but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And
Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell. 6
So the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? And
why has your countenance fallen? 7 "If you do
well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not
do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is
for you, but you should rule over it." 8 Now
Cain talked with Abel his brother and it came to
pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose
up against Abel his brother and killed him.
3
9 Then the LORD said to Cain, "Where is Abel your
brother?" He said, "I do not know. Am I my
brother's keeper?"
4
Jn 1334 "A new commandment I give to you, that
you love one another as I have loved you, that
you also love one another. 35 "By this all will
know that you are My disciples, if you have love
for one another."
5
Rom. 138 Owe no one anything except to love one
another, for he who loves another has fulfilled
the law. 1 Thess. 49 But concerning brotherly
love you have no need that I should write to you,
for you yourselves are taught by God to love one
another
6
1 Pe 122 Since you have purified your souls in
obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere
love of the brethren, love one another fervently
with a pure heart,
7
1 Jn 311 For this is the message that you heard
from the beginning, that we should love one
another, 12 not as Cain who was of the wicked one
and murdered his brother. And why did he murder
him? Because his works were evil and his
brother's righteous.
8
1Jn 411 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also
ought to love one another. 12 No one has seen
God at any time. If we love one another, God
abides in us, and His love has been perfected in
us.
9
How do we show our love for one another?
10
Receive one another Ro 157 Therefore receive
one another, just as Christ also received us, to
the glory of God.
11
Rev 320 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock.
If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I
will come in to him and dine with him, and he
with Me.
12
Edifying (build up/encourage) one another Ro
1419 Therefore let us pursue the things which
make for peace and the things by which one may
edify another.
13
Serve one another with love Gal. 513 For you,
brethren, have been called to liberty only do
not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh,
but through love serve one another.
14
Bear one another's burdens Ga 61-2 Brethren, if
a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are
spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of
gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be
tempted. 2 Bear one another's burdens, and so
fulfill the law of Christ.
15
Be forgiving of one another Ep 432 And be kind
to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one
another, just as God in Christ forgave you.
16
Submitting to one another Eph. 521Submitting
yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
17
Exhort (comfort or strengthen) one another He
312 Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of
you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from
the living God 13 but exhort one another daily,
while it is called "Today," lest any of you be
hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
18
Consider one another He 1024 And let us
consider one another in order to stir up love and
good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of
ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but
exhorting one another, and so much the more as
you see the Day approaching.
19
Being hospitable to one another 1 Pe 49 Be
hospitable to one another without grumbling.
20
We are our brothers keeper!
21
How well are you being your brothers keeper?
22
Do you receive a new Christian into the family of
God or do you ignore them? Do you try and reach
out to others in the church that are new or do
you find yourself staying with your same old
friends? Do you try to edify your brethren or do
you put a stumbling block in their way?
23
Do we submit to them or do we arrogantly to rule
over them? Do we serve them in love or do we
expect them to serve us? Do we demonstrate
hospitality to them?
24
When our brother is overtaken by a sin do we
consider them? Are we ignorant of their problems?
If so, why? Do we exhort our brethren lest they
become hardened by sin or are we afraid to
confront them, for fear of running them away?
25
Are we willing to bear their burdens to help them
overcome and become stronger in the Lord or would
we rather not be bothered?
26
Ecc 49 Two are better than one, Because they
have a good reward for their labor. 10 For if
they fall, one will lift up his companion. But
woe to him who is alone when he falls, For he has
no one to help him up. 11 Again, if two lie down
together, they will keep warm But how can one be
warm alone? 12 Though one may be overpowered by
another, two can withstand him. And a threefold
cord is not quickly broken.
27
Are we quick to forgive them when they
repent? Are we willing to accept a brother with
open arms and offer complete forgiveness?
28
John 1334 .. love one another as I have loved
you
