SYSTEMS IN DEVELOPMENT

• NASA has flight tested their runway incursion
  prevention system.
• It is a combination of ground and aircraft based
  communication aids.
• Supplies the pilot with visual and aural cues
  which enhance situational awareness.
• Information regarding ground movements is
  exchanged by the use of Mode S and datalink.
• A database enhanced visual depiction of
  runway/taxiway markings enables pilots to easily
  maintain situational awareness in low visibility.
• A deviation from clearance prompts a visual and
  aural alert to the pilot.
