Going to the cinema is a popular past time in
Indonesia. There are forty cinemas in Jakarta to
choose from. A new 9.5 hectare theme park called
Fantasy land has been opened in Jakarta. This is
a part of a larger leisure complex called Ancol
Dreamland, where you can go fishing, swimming and
lots of other sports. The attractions of the park
include daily shows of dolphins and sea lions in
a aquarium. For tourists there are tropical
beaches, mountain scenery with volcanoes and the
chance to see a different culture. About four
million tourists visit Indonesia every year.

Indonesia has many celebrations such as
Undependence Day 17 August, the Rice Harvest
celebration. People bring offerings of flowers
and food.

Indonesia has many types of religions, such as
the religion of Islam 88. Its god is Allah.

They praise Jesus Christ. Some people are
Hindus. They have Hindu temples.

The Indonesian cooking mainly uses food from
local farms and from local fishing ports. Rice,
maize, cassava and sweet potatoes are staple
foods. Most dishes are made with vegetables
including beans, shallots and cabbages. Gado-
Gado is a meal made from carrots, potatoes and
hard boiled eggs. It is usually served with
peanut and coconut milk sauce. Indonesian dishes
are usually cooked in an open pan or in a large
bowl shaped container called a wok. Some dishes
may include lamb, beef, chicken and pork.

In Indonesia there are lots of jobs like farming,
shop keepers and teaching. If you went to an
Indonesian shop the shop keepers would let you
take something and come back tomorrow to pay. In
the shops there is Indonesian writing everywhere.
The places where they work are very quiet because
the people like to be quiet.
8DANCES
Indonesia has over 1000 dancing troupes. They
think Javanese dancing is quiet and boring. But
Javanese people think Balinese dancing is too
loud and vigorous Some people dance for their
Gods. They have really interesting dances and
clothes. Their dances mean so much to their
lifestyle.

Java is one of Indonesia's islands Indonesia is
made up of over 13,000 islands. The climate in
Indonesia is tropical which means it is warm all
year round. The tropical climate is very good for
growing crops such as rice.

mountainous and difficult to reach and few people
live there.
