The Kick-Off Law 8

• Winner of coin toss chooses ends
• Loser of coin toss kicks off first half
• Change ends for second half
• Winner of original coin toss kicks off second
  half
• Repeat coin toss if extra-time

Kick-off Correct Procedure

• All players in own half
• Opponents of team taking kickoff at least 9.15m
  from ball
• Ball on centre mark and stationary
• Referee to give signal
• Ball in play when kicked (must go forward)
• Retake if any of above not done properly
• Kicker not to play ball a second time until
  played by another player
• Indirect free kick if ball played a second time

Dropped Ball

• Used when have to stop play, but no offence e.g.
  defective ball, serious injury, inclement weather
  etc.
• Referee to drop ball where it was when play was
  stopped
• If in goal-area, ball to be dropped on 5.5m
  line
• No set number of players to be present
• Ball in play when ball strikes ground
• Retake if not done properly or if ball leaves
  field before a player has played the ball
