What is Money?
  • Money is a very important item in our world
    today. Almost everything we do involves money,
    from every day life, to sports and schooling.
  • Since we handle money so often, it is very
    important that we know how to count, add, and
    subtract it.

Making Change
  • Making change is a very important concept to
    learn. When you buy something you need to know
    how much it is and how much you have, to see if
    you have enough.
  • To learn the concept of money, you are basically
    subtracting the cost of something from what you
    have to spend.
  • The basic way to learn how to subtract money is
    to start with a dollar and simply subtract the
    number of cents from 100.

  • If you bought a candy bar for .55 and paid with
    a 1 bill, how much money would you get back?
  • There are three things you want from the store,
    one is .25, another is .54, and the last one is
    .30. If you have a 1.00 bill, is that enough to
    get all three?
  • If you have 2, how much will you have left over
    if you buy something for 1.75?
