  • This presentation is intended to provide a
    summary of the definitions, eligibility and
    processes regarding obtaining the Program
    Management Professional (PgMP) certification from
    PMI. As a summary, it only provides highlights
    of the details contained in the PgMP Handbook.
    The handbook should be referenced by the
    applicant for further details on a specific
    topic.

Definitions
  • PgMP Certification
  • The Program Management Professional (PgMP) is the
    credential that gives you distinction and
    recognition in a growing community of
    professionals that manage programs.
  • The credential is offered to candidates whose
    daily tasks go beyond project management and into
    the realm that has a direct impact on the
    accomplishment of organizational objectives.
  • The PgMP also increases your visibility within
    your organization and on the international level
    as someone with the knowledge, skills and
    experience to make important decisions and to
    carry out strategic objectives that enhance
    business results.

Definitions
  • Program Manager
  • Under minimal supervision, program managers are
    responsible and accountable for the coordinated
    management of multiple related projects directed
    toward strategic business and organizational
    objectives.
  • They maintain continuous alignment of program
    scope with strategic business objectives. They
    possess advanced skills in finance,
    cross-cultural awareness, leadership,
    communication, influence, negotiation and
    conflict resolution.

Eligibility
  • Bachelors Degree, Global Equivalent or Higher
    Degree
  • Within last 15 years
  • 4 years (6,000 Hrs) or Project Management
    experience.
  • AND
  • 4 years (6,000 Hrs) of Program Management
    experience.
  • NOTE
  • If the degree was obtained from a university
    accredited by PMI Global Accreditation Center for
    Project Management, applicant receives 1,500 Hrs
    toward Program Management experience.

Eligibility
  • High School Diploma, Associates Degree or Global
    Equivalent
  • Within last 15 years
  • 4 years (6,000 Hrs) or Project Management
    experience.
  • AND
  • 7 years (10,500 Hrs) of Program Management
    experience.
  • NOTE
  • Calculation of experience must take into
    consideration overlapping months as single. In
    other words a 12 month project and a 5 month
    project that overlap on the last month of the 12
    month and the first of the 5 month, will total 15
    months instead of 17.

  • Process begins after PMI receives Exam passing
    score.
  • Functions similar to a 360 review.
  • PMI sends candidate an e-mail containing link to
    web-based performance evaluation survey.
  • Survey contains 70 Statements to rate from 0 to 5
  • 0 No basis to judge candidates behavior
  • 5 Candidates performs task with outstanding
    strength
  • Same e-mail sent to 12 contacts provided by
    candidate on application.
  • Contacts composed of
  • One (1) Supervisor
  • Four (4) Peers
  • Four (4) Direct Reports
  • Three (3) Professional References

PgMP Credential
  • Candidates are provided their overall pass or
    fail status on their score reports for both the
    Multiple Choice Exam and the MRA.
  • One report for each evaluation, Exam and MRA.
  • Minimum proficiency level 325.
  • Candidates that obtain at least this level will
    be awarded the PgMP Credential
  • Candidates that do not obtain the minimum will be
    provided a report that indicates all areas and
    the evaluated proficiencies.
