INTRODUCTION
  • Marshall Mcluhan said that the media is an
extension of our central nervous system. And in
this power point slide we are going to
    communicate this.
  • We are going to demonstrate this by using close
circuit television as an extension of our eyes.
  • The merits of cctv to the authority and how it
has made it easy to prosecute criminals.
  • Cctv has made transportation easier and brought
    security to the public institutions.

  • We understand the work of Marshall Mcluhann and
the above phase as a deliberate and imaginative
stimulus action that are encoded from a
particular source that results in a consequence
reaction, which may have an effect on the
    receiver.
  • We are transferring our understanding of Marshall
Mcluhan imagination and prediction of the
electronic Media, there by focusing on CCTV. It
would change how man can extend his vision. The
manifestation of this can be seen, from the
benefits that are derived from their numerous
usage. Some of which are reduction in criminal
activities, stop and arrest of terrorists. As we
already extended nerves by various media so, any
extension whether of skin, hand or foot affects
the whole of psychic and social complex

5
  • CCTV as an extension of our eye, the invention
of the media has make law enforcement job more
effective even beyond everyone's imagination. The
consequence of the benefits can not be quantified

6
  • Marshall Mcluhan writes
  • We live mythically and integrally.. In the
electric age, when our central nervous system is
technologically extended to involve in the whole
of mankind and to incorporate the whole of
mankind in us, we necessarily participate in the
consequences of our every action. (1964 p.4)

7
  • Mcluhan statement has further underline the
manifestation of electronic technology of various
media. As cctv is a point of reference here, arm
robbers are being caught, terrorist are brought
to justice and traffic jams can be avoided.

8
  • CCTV has turned out to become a journalistic
obsession. It is very interesting to note that
from the very minute we live our homes, we are
constantly monitored by the surveillance system.

9
  • Their deployment can be seen on all the transport
    networks of the county.

10
  • Most public institution like schools, hospital
and shopping centres often employ cctv as an
    extension of the eye.

11
Conclusion
  • Mcluhans prediction and views of electronic
technology as a media that has become an
extension of our central nervous system is being
relived by the characteristics of cctv as a
    media.
  • Moreover the eye as a sensory organ elevates
cctv as a electric media which is an extension of
    our eye.
