• An effective spelling programme gradually builds
  pupils spelling vocabulary by introducing
  patterns or conventions and revisiting those
  already introduced
• Spelling should short, lively, focused and
  regular sessions
• Spelling should be enjoyable and effective
• Spelling SHOULD NOT be occasional or focused on
  just skills
