• Open Crunchit!
• (bcs.whfreeman.com/crunchit/ips5e)
• 1. Type in the annual average retail gasoline
  prices in the US over the last few years (see the
  file with that info). Note there are two
  variables year and average retail price (in
  cents/gallon) so youll need two columns.
• Get a timeplot of this data that is, show the
  pattern of variability of gasoline prices in the
  US over time. (Always put time on the horizontal
  axis). In Crunchit, this involves doing a
  Scatter Plot (under Graphics) and choosing the
  variables for the plot.
• Now copy the graph into Word and write a
  paragraph describing this data. The paragraph
  should be descriptive and in context!

• 2. Now open Table 1.9 on page 39 into CrunchIt!
  and do the following (copy into Word as above)
• a bar graph of the variable gender. Make sure
  you label both the horizontal and vertical axes.
  Describe what you see context!
• a histogram and boxplot of the self-concept
  score and discuss the distributioncontext!
• create a new column (variable) that tells whether
  a student has a low or high self concept. I
  propose using 55 or so as a cutoff score for
  concept (lt55 low, gt55 high) - you could
  choose other cutoffs under DATA, choose BIN
  COLUMNS and pick 55 as a cut point. What are the
  -ages of each group?
• compare gpa by gender and this new variable
  (separately). HINT Use boxplots, side-by-side.
  Describe the differences you see (if any)?
  Context!
• answer all these and turn in with your quiz on
