Who Was Queen Victoria

• Queen Victoria was born in 1819 on the 24th June,
  thats 186 years ago.. At Kensington Palace in
  London.
• Here is a picture of Queen Victoria

Queen Victorias Father

• She was the daughter of the Duke of Kent.
• The Duke of Kent (Victorias father) died when
  she was only 8 months old.
• So Queen Victoria never got to know her dad.

• Victorias mother was a German Princess called
  Victoria Mary-Louisa .
• She lived in Kensington Palace in London with
  Victoria.
• Queen Victoria was the only child and had no
  brothers or sisters.

• Victorias mum controlled Victoria's life very
  strictly. Victoria had to sleep in her mothers
  room when, in 1837 she had her 18 birthday.
  However 1837 was a special year the princesses
  life changed completely.

• Tutors visited the palace to teach her History,
  Geography, Literature, Religion and several
  foreign luanguages.She had a governess called
  Louise Lehzen who looked after her. Her dog was
  called Dash.

  for very long hours
• She needed to understand everything that was
  going on
• In addition every senior appointment in the army,
  navy or civil service had to be personally signed
  Victoria R the R stood for the Latin word
  Regina meaning queen.
• Although she filled any spare moments by doing
  signings she was sometimes months behind.

Why did Queen Victoria always where black?

• Because after her husband who died she missed him
  so much.
• Every day from then on she always wore black.
• She wore black at night too
• She was horrified when she heard the news that
  her husband had died
