Direct Address

• Direct Address is applied when one speaker is
  talking directly to another person.

Where do I put the Commas, Sir?

• 1. When you have found the phrase of direct
  address you surround it with commas.
• 2. If the use of direct address is in the
  beginning of the sentence you only need to put a
  comma after it.
• 3. If the use of Direct Address is at the very
  end of the sentence you only need a comma before
  it.

Examples

• 1. After class, Mr. Ellsworth, you should try and
  find your phone.
• 2. Mr. Ellsworth, why is your class so boring?
• 3. What is the point of all the homework we do,
  Mr. Ellsworth.

Helpful Hints

• Think of the character who is using direct
  address as a postman sending off a letter
  directly to another character.
