6 Sigma Definitions
  • Six Sigma is a measure of quality with a
    continuous improvement program looking for
    perfection
  • Six Sigma is a disciplined, data-driven approach
    and methodology for eliminating defects
  • Six Sigma is a data-driven, disciplined approach
to minimizing defects in any type of process (be
    it manufacturing or services).
  • The goal of Six Sigma is to statistically
represent how a process is performed, and
determine where defects can be eliminated. Six
Sigma strives for just 3.4 defects per million -
    near perfection.

6
What does the 6 Sigma Mean?
  • Sigma is the statistical term for the standard
deviation of a population (or the data that you
    have)
  • 6 Standard Deviations from the mean 3.4 defects
    per million

7
What is Standard Deviation?
  • Standard deviation is the statistical spread of
data in relation to the mean. It indicates
    variation in a data set

8
6 Sigma Overview
  • 6 Sigma is a management philosophy
  • With techniques and tools to improve capability
and reduce defects in any process
  • Project with strict Gateway reviews
