2INTRODUCTION
- Accident is an un-expected and un-planned
occurrence which may involve injuries. - Road traffic accidents are the 3rd leading cause
of death in age gr. of 15-29. - In adults of age 15 to 44 yrs more than 50
deaths are due to road traffic accidents. - Road traffic accidents amount to at least 1 to 2
GDP loss to the nations around the world . - Road traffic accidents and injuries caused by
them are also a leading cause of sickness
absenteeism. - Factors Predisposing to such accidents
- large no of animals share road ways with vehicles
- large no of old and poorly maintained vehicles
- large no of low driving standards
- wide-spread disregard of traffic rules
- Considering that factors 3 and 4 largely
affects the student population including students
of our college we have chosen them as our study
population. - This projects tests their Knowledge Attitude
and Practice regarding the Traffic Rules.
3AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
-
- To know the socio-demographic profile of study
population. - To know knowledge attitude practice of study
population regarding traffic rules. - To quantify the knowledge of study population
regarding traffic rules. - To correlate the knowledge with various
socio-demographic variables.

overtaking
Half of the students (50) overtake from both
sides.

mobile during driving
Maximum no of students (57) do not use mobile
during driving
21CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
- This suggests that maximum no. of students which
are from higher socio-economical class break the
traffic rules. - Among them maximum no. of students dont know
about traffic symbols dangerous dip and right
hair pin bend. - Only half of them wear helmets which is under the
act passed by govt. of Gujarat is mandatory. - Half of the students overtake from both the sides
which is quite dangerous. - Quite a many of them use mobile phones while
driving. - These activities can prove to be Risk Factors for
Road Traffic Accidents. - So an Educational Program to improve their
knowledge regarding traffic rules aiming at
improvement in accident prone behavior should be
immediately organized.
