What does Power enable the performer to do?
  • It is important in activities where the performer
    is pushed to travel as high or as far as
    possible, or to hit, kick or throw an object as
    far as possible.
  • Task
  • Can you think of three activities where Power is
    important to get the performer as high or far as
    possible?

  • LONG JUMP to push the performer
    as far as possible
  • HIGH JUMP to push the performer as high as
    possible
  • REBOUNDER to enable the performer
    (Basketball) to jump from the floor to
    retrieve the ball

How is POWER measured?
  • Power can be measured in a number of ways. Two
    standard tests which we will use to determine leg
    power will be
  • The standing broad jump (measures how far)
  • The standing vertical jump (measures how high)

  • It can be developed through combining speed and
    strength training programmes.
