  • Aventa is a partner in the REMC/GenNET Project
  • Algebra I was identified by State survey as
    number 1 need

Process for Implementation using Free Algebra I
  • REMCs will work with ISD/REMC Math consultant in
    partnership
  • REMCs will work with Regional Math consultant to
    determine how to implement in region
  • REMCs will supply the digital content (either
    through Blackboard or Moodle)
  • REMCs will assist in training local teachers how
    to teach Algebra I online either as a hybrid or
    solely online course

Aventa Algebra I Course Description
  • COURSE DESCRIPTION
  •  
  • The purpose of this course is to allow the
    student to gain mastery in working with and
    evaluating mathematical expressions, equations,
    graphs, and other topics in a year long algebra
    course.
  • Topics included are real numbers, simplifying
    real number expressions with and without
    variables, solving linear equations and
    inequalities,
  • solving quadratic equations, graphing linear and
    quadratic equations, polynomials, factoring,
    linear patterns, linear systems of equality and
    inequality, simple matrices, sequences, and
    radicals.

    multiple-choice, short-answer, or extended
    response questions. Also included in this course
    are self-check quizzes, audio tutorials, and
    interactive games.

  • Identify a consultant to work with Miriam Taylor
    to design PD for teaching Algebra I online
  • Mike Souden will facilitate
  • Spring, 2009
  • PD will be designed.  PD will include methods for
    diverse delivery methods teacher lead online,
    and hybrid.  
  • Design Marketing plan for REMCs to market

  • Summer, 2009
  • Train teachers to teach Algebra I on line
  • Evaluator contracted to develop the instruments
    to assess the project.  The group completing the
    pre and post surveys will be both students and
    teachers.  The report will discussions about
    offering additional content areas be given to the
    REMCAM.  If this project was a success, it may
    lead to additional content online
  • Fall, 2009
  • Roll out to local districts
  • Winter, 2010
  • Assess/reassess progress
