3Marist College Academic Merit Scholarships
- The Scholarship committee recalculates the
student's GPA using the following core courses
form grades 9, 10, and 11 English, Math,
Science, History/Social Studies, and Foreign
Language. This recalculated GPA along with
standardized test scores is used to determine
scholarship eligibility. - Students will automatically be considered for a
Merit Scholarship upon acceptance to Marist
College. No more than one academic merit award
will be awarded to each student.
4Marist College Academic Merit Scholarships
- Scholarship amounts apply to freshman entering
Marist College beginning in the Fall semester. - All Merit Scholarships are renewable. However,
after the freshman year, eligibility is
contingent upon the recipient meeting the
specified 2.85 GPA requirement each semester.
5Other Institutional Scholarships
- Athletic
- Debate
- Music
- Science/Technology
- Transfer
- Adult
- Graduate
6Cause and Effect of Economic Landscape
- Marist considered, but did not change the
criteria for awarding scholarships during this
economic event. - We did not increase our scholarship award amounts
- What we found was an increase in our appeals
7As a result
- The appeals/change of circumstances were reviewed
in order to determine eligibility for additional
grant money - FAFSA required
- Supporting documentation
- For a small group of students we were able to
award a supplemental scholarship - We found an increased interest in our endowed
scholarships
8Endowed Scholarship Online Process
- In response to the demand for more scholarships
our online endowed scholarship process enabled us
to effectively supplement our award packages - With the help our IT Department, Marist is able
to offer a completely electronic application,
recommendation and review process
