Field Experience

• Worked with struggling students one on one for
  further instruction.
• Conducted class discussions requesting feedback
  from students.
• Graded and distributed papers.
• Read stories aloud to the class each day, and
  then asked them questions about the book I had
  just read.
• Participated actively in the disciplinary aspect
  of teaching.

Connections to Course Content

• Cultural Diversity in lesson planning.
• Learning capabilities of each student.
• Schools that do not offer multicultural
  education.
• Different cultures in the classroom, and how the
  teacher handles it.
• Communicating with parents who speak a different
  language.
• Reading books about different cultures helps
  students to understand them.

What I learned about teaching

• Interacting with parents and students and
  different cultures is part of the job day to day.
  
• Finding ways to interact with multicultural
  parents is essential to student success.
• Making lesson plans diverse in culture might help
  to eliminate racism and prejudice in the
  classroom.
• If you make the students comfortable enough to
  share their thoughts and feelings, they are able
  to learn more from their experiences.
• All students learn at a different pace.
• As a teacher you are a role model. The students
  are always watching you so its best to set a
  good example.
• The teacher influences students opinions if they
  inflict to much of their own opinion.

• Very friendly learning environment.
• Excellent school pride and lots of student
  participation in school activities.
• There is very little diversity in the school.
• Not very much parent involvement.
• There is a lot of teachers per grade level.

Service Learning

• This being my 2nd service learning experience, I
  realized how different and diverse schools can
  be.
• There needs to be structure in the classroom for
  successful learning.
• I will take with me the knowledge of working with
  kids at a crucial age of learning. The school I
  worked at had an excellent program for students
  who were behind in reading, and that is something
  I plan to use as a future teacher.
• Integrating cultural diversity into the lesson
  plans is very important, and I learned from this
  experience that it is not done enough. That is
  something I hope to do increase as a teacher.
